THE ECZEMA SOLUTION - A revolutionary 6 week programme to overcome eczema
that will show results in just 3 weeks!
This is the book of the
renowned Noren habit-reversal system, devised by Dr Christopher Bridgett and
consultant dermatologist Dr Richard Staughton at the Chelsea & Westminster
Hospital, London, written in conjunction with the hospital team by environmental
scientist Sue Armstrong-Brown.
In his foreword to the
book Dr Bridgett writes:
"…it has become clear we are using a self-help treatment which is very effective indeed. If you suffer from established chronic atopic eczema, and you are frustrated by the creams not working, then read this book."
Each chapter represents an "appointment" and takes you through the stages of firstly learning about your eczema, then controlling it, and finally banishing it for good. The key to the programme is to stop scratching as research at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital has shown that no amount of emollient or steroids will work if you continue to scratch. This is much easier said than done, which is why The Eczema Solution
provides foolproof techniques to break, and then replace, the scratching habit,
starting by logging every scratch with a hand-held tally
counter ( click on this link or the image
below).
With cutting-edge advice that is otherwise only available to the small number of people who are referred to the hospital programme, The Eczema Solution is your route to a life without eczema.
Author Sue Armstrong-Brown has
had atopic eczema for her entire life - sometimes being hospitalised, often
feeling depressed, and over the years has tried every known 'cure' for her
eczema, without success. A referral to the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
changed her life and she has been free of eczema since completing the Noren
programme.

I was lucky enough to be referred to the Chelsea & Westminster Dermatology Clinic where I was introduced to the Noren anti-scratch technique. They also gave me a copy of your mail order catalogue. The book has helped me to stick to the programme and I would like you to send me another tally counter

purchased this book in desperation as my eczema had become unmanageable. After having it for 20 years+, it had become infected, which required cream with antibiotics, the skin was always bleeding and weeping and the itching was just intolerable. I looked into herbal creams and other solutions but with no solution (if you'll pardon the pun) I decided to buy this book and hope that it offered something that the other remedies did not.
I read it, and began following the recommendations. Within days my skin was calmer and I was not being driven up the wall by uncontrollable itching. The book not only offered advice but also went into how the skin works, and allows you to fully understand the condition. Yes steroid creams are involved ... but she explains how to use them for best effect without unnecessary overuse, and it works. Simple as that. And of course once your skin is healed ... you don't need them any more.
After following the plan, my skin was clear. Yes, clear. It looked - and felt - like normal skin, didn't itch, was unbroken. Finally I could go out in bare feet and not feel self conscious. After a recent pregnancy, the skin on one foot has broken out again (although it had been clear since mid 2008) so I'm getting the book out again to refresh my memory and will tackle it before it becomes a problem.

So here it is. The book that changed my life, "The Eczema Solution". Thank you Susan Armstrong Brown. After 40 years of trying in vain all sorts of remedies to control my maddening and acute eczema, I found this book. Following its instructions I am free from acute eczema for the first time in my life. I am so indebted to this book I have even created an homage to it on Facebook in its honour. It is brilliant to finally feel this way. I hope you TAKE THE RISK and drop everything to EMBRACE THIS BOOK too.

I've always had some eczema but since moving to an area with hard water my eczema has really flared up. I tried the methods described in the book and most of my eczema cleared up, but not all. I think the book presents a good way of managing it and focuses you on a routine which really helps. I feel that ultimately you have to find the cause otherwise you're just treating the effect.

This book is the first thing that has allowed me to realy take control of my eczema. I can't recommend it highly enough and think it is a real shame that it is not more widely known within the NHS.

The basic premise of this book is in changing your behaviour, so that you can gradually stop scratching altogether, thus allowing the steroid creams to take effect. It is a simple, but highly effective program and for me it has absolutely worked 100%. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
I had suffered from varying severities of eczema since the age of 11. At its worst, this horrible condition made my life completely unbearable. I would dread going to bed at night, as I knew it would mean hours of frustration and discomfort. I had tried various remedies from steroid creams to acupuncture, to Chinese herbs, to controlling the amount of dust in the air, and had almost given up on finding a cure, and resigned myself to years of merely "controlling" the discomfort. Since I bought this book two years ago (when I was 27), I have been completely free from what I would consider to be eczema.
I still get some dry skin, and occasionally use steroid cream on small patches of skin that look like they may become inflamed. I also use moisturizer twice a day (ask your GP for "Double Base", which is amazing stuff). But these are purely preventative measures. For the last two years I have been cured of a condition that used to make me thoroughly miserable. Any time I stop to remember what things were like, it feels like an absolute blessing to be able to sit down and work or watch a film or be with friends in complete comfort.
If you are struggling desperately with eczema, then I do not consider it exaggeration to say that buying this book may be the most rewarding decision you have ever made.

This review is from: The Eczema Solution (Paperback)
I have had a three-year bout with severe full-body eczema. Despite my scepticism the program worked. It was the first thing to really improve my eczema. I slipped after the program but am back on track. Scratching is as addictive as nicotine! I would have never believed it.
The program did not cure the eczema but the reduction was quite large, 60-80% improvement. In all fairness though, I didn't follow the program exactly. I had to do the program without prescription steroids because steroids had severely damaged my skin, so I only did the behavioral part., with some occasional help from 1 % hydrocortizone. I think it would be better if the program wouldn't promise a 'solution' because not everybody experiences a permanent solution. But 60-80% improvement is certainly possible.
This book did more for me than my $25,000 trip to the famous Mayo Clinic and it cost a heck of a lot less. This program has not received the publicity it should receive, and it is a crying shame. There is huge resistance among eczema sufferers to acknowledge that maybe they scratch too much. I was very resistant to the idea myself. And I think dermatologists just can't believe it is that simple. Anyway ,it is a shame such book doesn't have a wider audience. I've tried to tell about it to dermatologists in two different countries and their attitude has just been terrible.
The best thing about the book is the symphatetic tone in which it is written. This person has been through the same hell. She doesn't make you feel guilty for the eczema or your 'weak will'. Buy this book you will not regret it

OK,when I first saw this book I was as sceptical as I had been about all the 'new' atopic eczema treatments there seem to be everywhere. I was soon to have my mind changed....
I don't need to discuss the layout of this book as it is already covered in previous reviews, however I do need to re-iterate the effectiveness of the programme.
My skin is now clearer than ever. I look forward to having a shower, as my skin feel waterproof and flexibile again. I have managed to get back to the gym and even swimming.
I urge you to try the programme. Don't be put off by the fact it uses steroid creams - it re-educates you on how you should be applying them and validates why they will be effective in the programme.
Please try and get this book - you won't regret it - and you'll wish you found it years ago. But, just remember - You need to do the work. Lots of willpower and discipline is required but you'll definatly see the benefits!

This book is fantastic. It's not too long, and it's written in a clear and helpful style by a lady who has managed to overcome extremely severe eczema. It explains a programme used in hospitals to unlearn the automatic respone to itchy eczema- scratching. This sounds much easier than it is to do! The helpful and friendly tone of the book guides you through a series of "appointments", to be read at certain points in the programme. By using this book in combination with prescribed steroids used as advised a doctor, you should begin to unlearn the bad habits that are stopping the healing process and start replacing them with habits that do not damage the skin, allowing the steroids and emmollients to do their job uninterrupted.
As well as this, the book is full of information about how to cope with the emotional side of having eczema, and how your friends and family can help you instead of telling you to "stop scratching!!" all the time. As it's written by an eczema sufferer
This programme will take several weeks to work through, and doesn't provide a cure (as there isn't one), but the friendly reassuring tone of the book has helped me to have hope, and my eczema is responding to the treatment. This is such a good book, and I wish I'd known about some of the things in here years ago.
