Nickel Solution™ is a unique 2-part system that first detects nickel in jewellery and other everyday articles and then protects you from nickel contact.

1. Detect with Nickel Alert™ 
Simply put two drops of Nickel Alert on a cotton bud and rub the metal item for 15-30 seconds. If the swab turns pink-red, nickel has been detected. 
This updated and simplified dimethylglyoxime (DMG) test safely and conveniently detects nickel in rings, watches, necklaces, earrings, belt buckles and jeans studs, hooks, buttons and zippers, spectacles, coins, thimbles and needles, kitchen utensils and other everyday items. DMG spot nickel tests have been used for years in dermatology to detect the presence of nickel in concentrations as low as 1:10,000 and are sensitive enough for even the most exquisitely sensitive individuals. Nickel Guard can also be used for individuals with gold or cobalt allergies to prevent exposure to these metals too.

2. Protect with Nickel Guard™ 
When nickel has been detected, brush a thin coat of Nickel Guard on the item where the metal makes contact with the skin. The formula used in Nickel Guard creates a strong micro-bond with the metal, forming a barrier between skin and the irritant nickel. Nickel Guard uses technology recommended by leading dermatologists to prevent nickel dermatitis* and does not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde or Dibutyl Phthalate (all found in nail polish) which can cause secondary contact dermatitis.

Well, I suspected that I had an allergy to nickel because my some of my earrings bothered me a day or two after wearing them. You know, itchy rash type stuff. Anyhow, the product helped me find out which pair(s) of earrings had nickel in them. They I applied 3 thin coats of nickel guard to the studs and not a problem since. I am thrilled and highly recommend Nickel Solution to others. It is like a treasure hunt now. I test all my jewelry items and occasionally I find another source of nickel. The oddest things can have nickel including belt buckles and jean studs - who would have thought so many things can cause a rash. Anyhow, good luck all - test, test, test!
